Frequently Asked Questions
How the site works: sourcing, alerts, email, submissions, and privacy.
Where do your stories come from?
Every item is a cited brief from a named source: local publishers (linked, with the original as the primary read), official city/school/county records, or moderated community submissions. Nothing is rewritten without attribution and nothing publishes without a source.
Why do stories link out to other sites?
Linked publisher items belong to their publishers. We carry the headline, a short excerpt, and local context — the full story stays with (and supports) the original newsroom.
How do I get alerts?
Tap Enable push alerts in the Alert Center for browser notifications — no phone number needed. On iPhone, add the site to your Home Screen first (Apple requires it).
How do I submit news, events, or corrections?
Use Submit a Tip for news, the events form for calendar items, and the Corrections page for fixes. Everything is reviewed by a person before it publishes.
How does the Daily Brief email work?
Sign up with your email, confirm via the link we send (double opt-in), and every issue includes one-click unsubscribe. We never sell your address.
Do you track readers?
No third-party trackers or ad networks. We count anonymous pageviews (route + article id only — no IP, no profile) to power Most Read, and your preferences live in your own browser.
